This is less comprehensive than many books but we found it provided a very nice introduction to Copenhagen. Our stay was short (1.5 days on each end of a longer visit to Sweden) and this author hit on some of the highlights that allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the city and make choices about how best to spend our limited time. I purchased a paperbound copy but this book as an e version would also be helpful since it is primary text.
This is a very nice travel book. It describes interesting sites, and gives the current prices. The author includes lodgings, restaurants and shopping, as well as when is the best time of year to visit Copenhagen. The author also gives transportation information, so you know the best form of transportation to arrive at your destination. A brief history accompanies the various sites, and areas of the city.
While this city has not been on my Top 10 List of places to visit while on my trip to Europe, after reading this book by Gary Jones, I added this biggest of Scandinavian cities. I love gardens and have heard of Tivoli Gardens but not know exactly where it was. It’s in Copenhagen, home of Carlsberg Brewery, the statue of beloved author Hans Christian Andersen, the Little Mermaid and the Frederiksborg Palace.I’ve read a few of the author’s books, and like the way he structures it by starting off with a brief history, transport, the areas of the city, museums, art galleries, best coffee shops, bars, restaurants and special things to do. What I liked best about the book is the section at the end called A 3-Day Itinerary, which is a logical plan to see the vast majority of places and things covered in the book which is a great idea if you’re not sure where to start.
Riddled with typos and the printing quality was worse then my at home printer. The one map included was too dark to even utilize. This read like a Grade B middle school report. Honestly one of the worst things I have ever bought on Amazon. I would be embarrassed to sell or publish this and they must know its awful because they didn't even ask me to return the book when I requested a refund.
Lame book. Maybe good for a 3rd grader completing a social studies project, but of no use for travels.
Save your money. I did not find any useful information in this book. Rick Steves books are much more informative.
Good reviews! Hope they are helpful on our trip! Very simple reviews, quick read! Covers all the basics for a successful trip! Food, hotel, site seeing for both adults & children! Romantic suggestions too!
